While your summer may include beach vacations and traveling to far-off places, there are plenty of fun summer activities right here in the Salt Lake area, and South Jordan is the center of it all! Here are a few unique activities close to South Jordan, Utah, that you should definitely try out this summer if you haven’t yet. 

Go Hiking

Utah is known for its plethora of incredible hiking trails. If you are looking for a flat, easy trail close to South Jordan, The Jordan River Parkway Trail is a great option. This is a flat 45.3-mile point-to-point path along the Jordan River, perfect for a walk, run, or bike ride. Similarly, the Dimple Dell Trail is a relatively easy out-and-back hike through Dimple Dell Regional Park that totals 5.3 miles. These trails are perfect for any age or skill level. 

If you head directly east from South Jordan, there is a wide array of hiking options in the mountains. For a moderate 4.6-mile hike, take the Bell Canyon Trail to Lower Falls. This is a gorgeous hike past the Lower Bell Canyon Reservoir, through the wooded canyon, and arriving at the waterfalls. 

Additionally, in Little Cottonwood Canyon, there are tons of unbelievable hikes, many of which are difficult and recommended only for experienced hikers. Some of the popular long hikes are the Red Pine Lake Trail, Maybird Gulch Trail, and Alta-Brighton Lakes Loop. No matter how long you have lived in South Jordan, you will definitely find interesting hikes in the area that you haven’t done before.

There’s no time like the summer for concerts. SoDa Row in South Jordan has multiple concerts happening this summer, including performances from The Ventures and The Strike. Other venues nearby include the Sandy Amphitheatre, the USANA Amphitheatre, and The Gateway. Visit their websites to view calendars of upcoming concerts. There will be a variety of artists and genres, so, no matter your tastes, you are sure to find the perfect summer concert for you.

Check Out Farmers Markets

Finally, visiting a farmers market is the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning in the summer. South Jordan, Utah, has multiple local farmers markets close by! From July to October, the Utah Farm Bureau puts on the South Jordan Farmers Market on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It is designated as a food-only farmer’s market, giving the local farmers an opportunity to sell their fresh produce and pantry staples, including bread, jams, salsa, and tamales.

Another farmers market near South Jordan is the Daybreak Farmers Market, which is open every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., starting June 5 and ending September 25. Not only will they have vendors set up with quality local products, but they will also have music, balloon artists, and art demonstrations.
